🌾 Rural Road Work 2025: Heavy Maintenance & Gravel Program Update 🚧
Select rural roads are scheduled for heavy maintenance and gravel this year! Here's what you need to know:

✅ What Happens First?
• Roads are disced and graded after the spring thaw to shape, crown, reclaim and clean up edges. This maintenance creates a temporary windrow, allowing the graders to have material to work with until gravelling is done later on. We understand that it’s an inconvenience so please drive to the conditions of the road, and we ask that you please be patient as after a few grades, the road will be in a better condition overall for the long term.
• Please refrain from utilizing your own equipment to “fix municipal roads” as this is unauthorized.
• Some roads get heavy maintenance via clay or shale added to improve the base before gravel is applied.

Note: putting gravel down on black dirt is a temporary fix, not a long-term solution!

🪨 Fast Fact: We manage 249 miles of rural roads, and heavy maintenance should be done every 5-7 years!

🌦️ Timing Depends On...
• Spring weather
• Road conditions
• Contractor availability
• Note: roads must dry before grading or gravelling starts!

🔁 Not Every Road, Every Year
We alternate roads annually based on:
• Road condition
• Traffic levels
• Budget & available resources

Note: In 2019 we created a municipal priority map and are constantly reviewing it, as it assists us in planning to ensure everyone is treated fairly.

🪨 Fast Fact: We apply about 16,000+ cubic yards of gravel each year!

🚧 Please Be Patient 🚧
We know construction isn't convenient — but it's necessary. Thanks for your patience and understanding during the 2025 rural road work season!
